These days font icons are becoming a more frequently used tool for web ui designers and developers. So what are these font icons anyways? Font icons are essentially font files with symbols and icons instead of alpha-numerical characters. These icons and glyphs will have font properties and it gives us a lot of freedom to manipulate them as we need. If I am to list out some of the advantage of using font icons instead of png icons files they would be
- They can be embedded with @font-face css rule
- They are scalable easily
- We can change their colors and add shadow effects using css properties.
- They are cross browser compatible
- Loads quicker than image files.
Here I am going to list a few of the free font icons available for web ui development.
