i'm having problems with the pictures as well… My website is kasper.ungdomsrod.dk. I've added a thumbnail as shown in the video included with the theme, but the thumbnail doesn't show up on my website.

Theme uses the custom menu feature of wordpress 3. You will be able to adjust the hierarchy of the menu items from the menu admin panel.

Mail me your blog url and the admin access details.. I will look it up.

make sure your host/server has GD library installed
GD Support enabled in phpinfo()

so that thea featured iamges/thumbnails will work

You can do that at “tab.php”, on line 8 “auto: 2000″ wich means 2 secs. I changed it for 10000 (10 seconds) and looks better

I suggest to add the option to use for slideshow the description of featured image, because some people could have PHP or HTML code on the top of posts and then actually they are rendered as simple text on the text of slideshow and this look very ugly.

I dont know exactly what i did, but it worked. I gave 777 permission on the wp-content folder and the give back the 755 on the same folder.

you have to use gif files then! No jpeg support sometimes and you have to mark “stick it to the frontpage” or sth like this.. greeds

Hi, i have some problem with the pictures. When I write a new post and wish to insert a photo as thumbnail, even if i edit the photo it stil show the original photo.
Is it there any posibility that the article which apear in the slideshow do not apear in the body of the site ? Or is it posible to set diferent photo for one article, one for the slide and one for thumbnail ?

I'm trying to get a new widget area below the “social links” and above the popular posts box. but sth. seems to be wrong with the css-stylings. this is what I did:

i had problems with the images too. heres what worked for me.

1. make sure you have the latest version of wordpress installed
2. remove any themes you dont really need
3. disable wordpress firewall if you have it installed
4. make your images 200×200 pixels. use irfanview if you dont have an editor. its free, just google it
5. go to themes->editor->tab and change h=180&w=350& TO -> h=200&w=200& this will change your slideshow to more of a box. you can also change auto=2000 to auto=9000 for nine second delay
5. if your sidebar box is off go to sidebar.php and change from the default 60&80

this worked for me. ill be making a video tutorial on this theme because i really like it and plan on using it as a standard on my blogs as soon as i figure out some more stuff. i havnt found a real good tutorial yet and i was frustrated so im sure others are too.

Open tab.php by Text Editor (Wordpad) and modify a value of auto (the default value is 2000 ms). I tried to change it to 4000 and my slide’s gone, I don’t know why. I changed it to 3000 and the slide runs slower a bit, that means a thumbnail and summery appearance longer. You can also adjust value of speed which is gonna affects to sliding-speed (greater is slower).

Images in slide and thumbnail is in different size, but they use the same picture you chose. Then I think there’s no possibility that we can choose different images for those.

No, I have no problem with thumbnail image. You can use any type of supported images which are most currently common filetypes of images.

You need to add picture as a featured image.

You shouldn’t do that, setting chmod to 777 might be a very dangerous work. Just use an image as featured image and then choose category which is displayed on slide, that’s it.

You need to add menu manually. Just go to Dashboard > Appearance > Menus and choose which items you want to show on Menu Bar.

After uploading an image, you’ll see “Use as featured image” link at the bottom of dialog, just click on this link.

Great Theme! I Love It! In scanning the posts I see several in here that ask the same questions over and over again. First: My images aren’t showing up in the slider or the “Popular Posts” section. Just convert the image you want as the “Featured” image to a .gif file. This is the simplest and easiest resolution. Second: How do I get the menu to work? This was an aha! I cant believe I missed it, moment. You have to go into the Dashboard > Appearance > Menus section and set up your menus. I did this and they still weren’t working, until I remembered that I didn’t set the “Primary” & “Secondary” menus and click “Save”. Duh! Works perfectly. Great theme, I’m still in the process of creating my site. I’ve just about figured out most things I want to fiddle with in the theme, however there’s a conflict with certain plugins and the image slider. Somebody has already commented above, in my case I want to use the cforms plugin, but whenever it is activated the image slider just displays the first slide, the button’s don’t work and a list of bullet points appear down the right side.
Any advice on getting the theme to work with cforms activated? Or can anybody suggest a good customisable contact form?

You’re site looks awesome, how did you get the picture on your header?

I just edit the JPG in the image folder for the header. It is simple and works well as long as you dont change the dimensions of the image.

First theme I used with a slider I had to download the wp-slider plugin and activate it. That worked for me. Although I didnt have to do it on this theme. Give it a try. THe other problem is the images themselves. On this theme it appears that the Featured Listing and the SLider image only work if you use a GIF. Hope that helps.

Edit the image file in the Image folder. That is the way I do it.

Glad I could help. To edit any of the images, just go to the images folder in the downloaded package for for the theme and then edit the images directly there. Just be sure not to change the proportions. Then all you have to do it upload the modified images directly into the images folder in your theme on your server (wordpress-or root folder/wp-content/themes/calypso/images) then refresh your browser and viola!

When you go in to edit the menu under appearance you just need to drag the menu item to the child position. It will be indented slightly to the right. If you have trouble just be patient and slowly move the menu bar until you see the dotted line in the correct place. It is very simple, which is the problem, sometimes are so simple we don’t even notice them. If you need a screenshot just send me you email and I can send you a screenshot or a little video of how to do it.

The child issue is driving me crazy! I drag it over and it is indented. When I hit “save”, its puts it back as a primary, not saving it in the child position. Any suggestions?

Hi, i’m french, sorry for my mistakes… This theme is great but the slider doesn’t work for me. I put thumbnail like featured in my post, no problem, thumbnails appears (my images are .gif) it’s ok but no animation.
If i put he mouse on the previous or next button on the slider, the url ends by a “#”. Anyboby knows this problem ?

I really like this theme, but I’m having a problem adjusting the timing from one slide to the next. It’s moving to fast. If it can be slowed down for an additional 4-6 seconds, it would be great. Does anyone have any info on how to make the adjustment?

Was able to adjust the speed in the tab.php file of the theme manually. You’ll see it in the code near the top and can play around until you find a speed you like.

Was wondering if there is a way to have archival pages show thumbnail images like the main page posts do? Seems odd to leap to a category or such and have the entries just be text?

I found out what’s wrong! but still cant change it back. When the allow register button is checked within the wordpress backend the top menu goes away! can someone help me out to get this menu back?

Even after setting wordpress to use some image as Featured Image, the Calypso theme doesn’t show it. I’m using latest version of WordPress, I think it broken somehow the way Calypso creates thumbnails from featured images.

Nevermind. I manage to fix the issue by updating the Timthumb.php library from  http://code.google.com/p/timthumb/
Just copy&paste the php script file and create a new timthumb.php on your computer. Put that new file in your wp-content/themes/Calypso theme folder overwriting the old file and it’s done.

Você deve substituir o arquivo antigo, de preferencia renomeando ele para timthumb.php.old e fazendo o upload da nova versão. Não esqueca de salvar a imagem que quer usar como Thumb na opção de ˜Usar como imagem destacada”
