Diavlo is our new tumblog theme in the fabseries. This is a monochromatic, lightweight and minimalistic theme. It is also seasoned with a dash of CSS3 magic. You will see that when you hover over the post type icons. Tumblog themes are wordpress themes with features similar to Tumblr sites. You can post different contents like, asides, link, video, audio, images, chats, quotes etc and each of these contents types are presented differently. This tumblog theme uses WordPress ‘post formats’ to manage these different content types. Ubert comes with a fresh and pleasant design and color scheme.
The title of this post is an oft repeated question I receive in my emails and in the comment section of this site. “How to change my site name to a logo?”. For someone with few basic skills in html and css , this wont be a big deal. But I am hoping this will help those who want to do this but unable to figure it out. This also works out easy for me , so that I wont have to reply to those mails separately. I have created a screencast which will show you the entire process. However [ Read More ]

Custom menu feature is one of the cool feature WordPress has provided along with its V.3 update. Since then I have been loving it and have enabled this feature on every theme I created. At the same time I have been receiving numerous comments, emails, tweets, etc from theme users who are unable to figure out how this thing works. They often get stumped by the blank navigation areas once the theme is installed. In a way I am responsible for this confusion, because the custom menu code has an option to declare a fallback menu, and I have not [ Read More ]

Since the release of WordPress 2.9, themes released by web2feel are using a new feature to enable thumbnails on featured posts and post excerpts etc. Earlier we have been using the Timthumb script from Darrenhoyt.com. This involved creating a customfield and applying the required image url to it. But with the release of WordPress 2.9 we have a new feature called the_post_thumbnail feature. This enables us to add a thumbnail image to any of our post from the post editor itself. Yes, we do not need to use any customfields anymore. I have relied on this feature on my new [ Read More ]

Normally on a blog every post is styled uniform. But wont you think it would be nice if you could style these posts differently. One way to do it is to retrieve the post-ID and then apply style to it. But it is a painstaking process and you would have to repeat the css edit every time a new post is made. Here I am concentrating on a different method. It is by exploiting the post_class(); feature added to WordPress since 2.7. The post loop markup using post_class(); features is given below. <div> id="post-"&gt;</div> The post_class() generates dynamic class names [ Read More ]
