Hi Sonofara - you need to put the post you want in the slideshow in a 'featured' category so it shows up at the top (check in the elantris options to choose which category you want for this). To get the thumbnail to show up, go to "edit post" ->

then, at the bottom right of the screen you will see the "set thumbnail" button - simply add the picture you want to feature in the slideshow. Bear in mind, any picture you want to add will be stretched on the slideshow, so you will want to "squish" the chosen thumbnail a bit before adding it
