I can not understand how to use custom sliding elements with images. When I add post, there is a new sliding element, but without images. I could not find the options on these elements in Scerlett options in WordPress admin panel. Where can I enter or specify other means the source of images for the sliding elements? Thanks in advance! I can’t work with the sliding elements, I have got it working, but then turned out the section that had placed posts to show the “this” section and then blacked out this section …

Is there any way to display the posts on the slides otherwise?, As I do that?

In the custom field, you put the URL of your image and call this custom field “screen”

Since upgrading my WP to the latest version, I get an error message when trying to update the Scarlett control panel page: something about all the memory used up on line 52. Any ideas?

I am having problems with the image slider List and post animation in firefox are not working properly, but in internet explorer are working well.

I'm having similar problems with the slide.php (random post carousel). In IE, the carousel of 4 random posts works to the extent that there are three random posts updated every few seconds. In FF, Safari and Chrome there are four randomly selected posts that only change when the page is refreshed. I'd like to make the leap to the Pro version later, but if I am unable to get the basic theme operational I don't see the advantage. Any help would be appreciated.

I looked at your website and saw that the images were still not displaying. I had the same problem and finally got it to work. Unfortunately I didn't try them one at a time to see which one did the trick. I replaced the timthumb.php file in the “scarlett” directory with the latest version at this link…

And I also examined the .htaccess file which is in my public_html directory. I had copied it from another website of mine and it contained some lines of code that I added after reading a story on how to make WordPress more secure. I decided to remove those lines so that the .htaccess file contained only the original lines that were put there when I first installed WordPress from the CPanel at BlueHost.com.

The images now display. The only remaining issue I have is that the 4th image is often slow to display. It eventually does but I have no idea why it has the delay. You can view my site at http://omynoggin.com

I tried screen and url of image… stil not working. Also checked cache file is 777. Also, All In One SEO plugin doesn't work with Scarlett… bad for SEO… doesn't change meta description or keywords. I've mailed web2feel support twice now over the last few weeks but NO REPLY!

About the footer – I replaced the contents of footer.php with the contents of bottom.php. I then replaced the contents of bottom.php with nothing more than a comment – so it's essentially empty. Not even sure if that was necessary but it seems to work fine. Although I'd keep copies of the originals just in case you have to put things back the way they were.

I just switched to this theme, I love it, though I am having trouble getting the page navigation at the lower portion of the theme to show up? Any ideas?

Make sure the WP-Pagenavi plugin is activated. If it is, check the settings and make sure pagenavi-css.css is checked. Then make sure that pagenavi-css.css actually exists in the /public_html/wp-content/themes/scarlett/plugins/wp-pagenavi folder, or wherever the plugins folder is located. You could also view the source code of your webpage and search for pagenavi-css.css. One other thought, is it possible it is being displayed but in the same color as the background? Try using the mouse to “select” the area where you think it should be and see if it becomes marked in a different color.

About the footer area, rename bottom.php to footer.php, and rename footer.php to bottom.php. Or swap the contents.

Why does my site still say “Scarlett” in the header? and not the name of my site? The site title should be there but it's not. I have set the site title in the settings… general… settings of WP.

The reason is that Scarlett is an image not text. What you have to do is create a new image and replace the one called logo.jpg in the images directory for the theme. If you don't know how to do that then upload the free eBook on this blog post and look at the section on CPanel that tells you how to upload files.

Don't forget that the new image has to have the name logo.jpg and should overwrite the existing one with the same name.

Just started using this great theme. Having trouble using category templates with it though… I want to have a different sidebar for each category for different affiliate links. I've created a sidebar4.php and also a category.php file using

but the sidebar never changes! Any idea how to make this work?

I'd like the vertical sliding thing in the sidebar to show more than 10 posts, and perhaps have them all be random. As it is, it shows the last 10 posts in chronological order over and over again.

after writing your post, below there's an option (Add New Custom Field:) you need to type: screen and the value should be a link to your picture, make sure your picture is sized to 200x100px

I can not get my images to show up in the slider… i have done everything and it doesn´t work, i create the screen stuff, then put the link of the images, put the cache folder on 777, and again nothing i only see the main title text and the rest appear in black, i also have issues with youtube, it only shows the square of the movie but it doesn't show the movie controlls, also at the side bar sometimes shows a scrolling down of 5 news ok and sometimes it only shows one and still, any ideas?

Hello Brian, I looked at your site and am trying to figure out how you got to changed your logo size. I have a 600 by 90 logo but it is only showing a 600 by 20. I have tried modifying the Style CSS blogname class specifying my width: 600px and height: 20px but this didnt help. Can you tell me how you changed your logo?

How do I add thumbnail to my slider?

Replace the top.jpg with your log, then delete the Banner Background:URL at the style.css.

I mean logo.

hi i am running a blog but this theme is deeply inspired me…..very charming…. i had a test of this layout but came across with the problems, if developer can fix or instruct me then i can go for this theme ! regarding to this post..
3- the slide is not showing the image, how to add, ??there is no detail in the theme setting page, only option for catagories and number of boxes in the silde which is working properly..
10- i download flickress plugin by Joao pedro baros but not working anyother else you recommend ??
11- how usefull breadcrumb ??

this looks like a great template. hope it will improve my site.

Its a great template, but doesnt work with the badly needed Timthumb upgrade out of the box. In the download package is still the Version with the security flaw.

Does anyone know who to update it?

I was having problems with the images not showing up on the image slider even after I followed all the suggestions on the read me file.
But I got it to work anyways.
What I did was, replace the old, timthumbs.php file with the new one. (you download new timthumbs.php at http://timthumb.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/timthumb.php)  Timthumbs should be in your scarlett theme folder.
In the same directory as your timthumb.php, make sure you have TWO folders in there. One should be named “cache” and the other one should be called “temp”. For some reason I only had cache in there and not temp.
Now when it came time to change the file permissions on the “cache” and “temp” folders, I found out that my host would not allow it via ftp program for security reasons. So I had to log in to my hosts account and change it from there.
For me, I had godaddy, so I had to log in to my account and change it through there.
If you have godaddy, they are not very clear on how to change it. Here’s a more straight forward direction.
1) Log into your account.2) Click on “My Account” tab at the very end of the menu bar.3) On the left side menu, find “My Products” and click on “Hosting” link.4) Scroll down to your webhosting account, and click on “Launch”5) Click on the button on the top left hand side that says, FTP File Manager.6) Browse to wp-content to themes to the scarlett theme folder.7) Tick the box next to “Cache” folder and then click to on the “change permissions” icon on the upper right hand menu (it’s the menu bar that looks like a bunch of folder icons)8) Un-tick “inherit” so that Read and Write are ticked. Click Save.9) Do the same for the “temp” folder”
To see if it worked make a new post. This is when it worked for me.
